Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa were introduced in the 18th century to describe different species of Cannabis. These were cultivated for its fiber and seeds. How to choose the right strain? Well it all depends on what effect you desire.

Indica -which originates from the Hindu Kush mountains of India was harvested for its seeds, fiber and hashish production. Indica has a relaxing sedating effect on the user, perfect for relaxing with a movie and popcorn. Indica grows shorter 3-4 ft and has stout, broad leaves and shorter flowering cycles. 

Here is how you should expect to feel with Indica:

Sativa –has more energising, invigorating uplifting cerebral effect which is great for creative projects, exercise and social events. Sativa is a taller plant with more narrow leaves and longer flowering cycle.

Hybrid is a combination of the two thought to fall somewhere in between.

 

The Cannabis plant is composed of hundreds of chemical compounds. The primary compounds are THC and CBD and Terpenes.

THC – is responsible for munchies, make you feel high and relieve pains

CBD- is non intoxicating compound that helps with inflammation and pain.

Terpenes- are natural aromatic oils produced by the plant responsible for making the plant smell like berries, citrus, pine etc and deliver unique therapeutic benefits. These may be found in flowers, oranges, pepper and other fruits and plants. Some terpenes that are Linalool, Myrcene, Pinene, Humulene, Caryophyllene, Limonene, Ocimene, Terpinolene.
